Cognitive dissonance and law school

From the Globe and Mail article, "Thinking saying sorry is hard?" states that the theory of cognitive dissonance is when, "...if people go through a great deal of pain, discomfort, effort and embarassment, they will be happier with that "something" than if if came to them easily"

I think that explains why people stay in law school.
