Responsible pet owners

This is a letter that I wrote that appeared in today's Edmonton Journal

http://www.canada.com/edmontonjournal/news/letters/story.html?id=4bb739a7-2770-4d89-9ed1-e3847ac6c429

It was a response to a letter from a woman complaining that she didn't have to pay a fine for renewing her licences because she didn't know she had to renew them.

Re: "$750 fine more than pet peeve" by Valerie Talbot - Letters July 5

Valerie Talbot claims that she is a responsible pet owner and that she should not have to pay a fine for not renewing her licences.

However, a responsible pet owner would do their due diligence to ascertain when they should renew their licences, instead of passively waiting for a renewal notice.

If Talbot can afford the costs of food, spaying/neuteuring and vet bills for all three pets, she can afford $750 for her irresponsibility.

I also have to mention Happy Lucky Day!  (07/07/07) and I hope I'm around for 07/07/2077 ;)
