Our journey south today takes us through the Loire Valley, home to over 3000 Châteaux. See the magnificent Château Chambord and the vineyards which produce many of France's finest wines.

We stopped at a grocery store to make a picnic at Castle Chambord which was a really cool idea.

The Chateau was built by a guy who wanted a hunting lodge and only lived there for 44 days.  Also, his children were held ransom.  Instead of paying the ransom, he used to money to keep on building the castle.

We also spent 45 minutes at a service station as required by EU laws. We arrived at Bordeaux.  The hotel was located near the center of town.  We had a "walkabout dinner" where you go off and discover a restaurant by yourself.  I went off myself to an Italian restaurant beside the town square. It was how I had always imagined being in Europe would be. The restaurant I went to Roman Bistro. I know I ought to have French food in Bordeaux, but the restaurant where I looked was pretty pricy and I picked Roman Bistro because it was close to the town square and it was filled with people sitting outside. Bonus: They had an English menu and yummy pasta.
