Day 23: Vienna to Munich

On to Bavaria's lively capital Munich, home to the Oktoberfest. View sights such as the animated Glockenspiel, stroll through the shopping streets and take the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of a local beerhall.

Went to Mauthausen concentration camp memorial in the morning, and it was very emotional.  Some people in our group cried after watching the very graphic video.  The video depicted when the people were liberated, they were just skin on bones because they had been starved so much and they had to work on a quarry where they were required to carry boulders up huge steps. It was a very sobering experience. Afterwards, Ryan played the Sunscreen song which was when I cried. I didn't expect to cry because I'm not of Jewish descent.

Afterwards, we stopped at service stop station where it was really rushed. I ordered the schnitzel with fries and it took forever to come.

Went into Munich on a Sunday night, so there was not much open. For dinner, I ordered pork knuckle but could not stand the smell and was full from the potato and the salad alone. We went to the Hofbrauhaus and everybody drank beer and shouted "Proust" (Cheers).  I had spezi which is a combination of Coke and Fanta, which surprisingly works.

Hotel:
Eurohotel and Suites. Another decent hotel.
